Pocket Wage is a way of running pocket money. It holds no money, takes no payments, and asks for as little about your family as it can. This page says exactly what it does collect, in plain words. If anything here is unclear, email hello@pocketwage.com.
Who we are
Pocket Wage is operated from Australia. For privacy law we are the controller of the information described here. You can reach us at hello@pocketwage.com.
The website (pocketwage.com)
- No accounts, no tracking. The website has no analytics, no advertising and no third-party scripts. We do not record who visits.
- Where you are. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, tells the page which country and state or province a request came from, and the page sets a cookie called
pw-geoholding just that (for exampleAU-NSW) so the calculator opens on your country. It lasts one day, is never sent to us, and holds nothing else. - Your choices. The country, region and age you pick in the calculator are kept in your browser's local storage so they are there next time. They never leave your device.
- Share links. A shared rate link contains the country, region and age only. It never contains a child's name.
The app (app.pocketwage.com and the mobile apps)
The app is a ledger. To run it for a family we keep:
- A parent's email address, used to sign in with a one-time link and for account emails. There are no passwords.
- The family: its name, country and region, payday settings, and the wage it runs on.
- Each child: an optional first name or nickname, and a birth month and year, both entered by a parent. The birth month and year set the child's rate and Pay-Rise Day. We never ask for a surname, a full date of birth, a photo, or anything a child enters about themselves.
- The ledger: jobs, standard times, claims, approvals, payslips and balance adjustments. This is a record of pocket money, not of real money: nothing is held, moved or paid through Pocket Wage.
- Children's devices. A child's phone or tablet signs in anonymously, tied to that child's profile by a code the parent generates. No email, no password, no name is collected from the child. A parent can remove a device at any time.
Children
Children are not account holders. Everything about a child is entered by a parent, belongs to the parent's account, and is visible to and deletable by that parent. We collect the minimum needed to work out a rate and a birthday, and we do not run analytics, advertising or tracking on the children's side of the app.
Where it's kept and who touches it
- Supabase hosts the app's database and sign-in, in Sydney, Australia.
- Cloudflare serves the website and the web app.
- Resend sends sign-in and account emails on our behalf.
Each is bound by its own privacy terms and processes data only to provide its service to us. We do not sell or share family data with anyone else, and we do not use it for advertising.
How long we keep it
For as long as the family's account exists. Email hello@pocketwage.com from the account's address and we will delete the account and everything in it within 30 days. Removing a child inside the app hides them and their history from the app; deletion of the underlying records happens with the account.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete what we hold about your family at any time by emailing us. Australian residents have rights under the Privacy Act 1988; residents of the UK and EU have rights under the UK and EU GDPR, including access, correction, deletion and portability. We will answer within 30 days.
Changes
If this page changes in a way that matters, the date at the top changes and account holders get an email.
